Ally s separated from her husband A divorce is coming She also has a sick child that doctors aren t able to diagnose She s living with her Mom She loves her dearly but they don t always see eye to eye And now, her soon to be ex, husband is thinking of dating again because he s lonely.
This author does a good job of showing all the character s emotions The main character is trying to do the right thing but she runs into roadblocks She keeps going though The author writes compassionately, with smooth flowing words, and really draws you in to her story.
She decides to try a new doctor that she liked the reviews on The doctor is a bit odd but Ally hopes she can help her daughter When her husband finds out, he wants to go the appointments too He s skeptical about the doctor but she is helping Since Ally was adopted, the doctor suggest I chose The Other Family as my MarchPrime First read I d previously loved Digging In, another of Loretta Nyhan s book which was IMO a lotfully developed and intriguing than this one.
It s not a bad book at all It s an enjoyable enough read, but I felt it rather scraped the surface of a bunch of issues without really going deep enough on any of them.
I ve long been intrigued by the growth of home test DNA kits, not because I have any interest at all in knowing where I might have come from, but because I could see a whole host of really dangerous issues that they could cause If you want genetic testing for a disease for example for one of the genetic cancer markers it s typical to have to undergo counselling to check you re ready to handle the possible con ☆ The Other Family ☆ Mama Bear PerseveresThis is a story of a mother who is embattled on many fronts Her marriage has fractured Money is tight And she has a daughter who appears to have some sort of autoimmune disease, though the many doctors they ve been too can t figure it out The very first scene shows how both mother and daughter are familiar with the routine at the doctor s office as they valiantly try yet again, hoping that this new doctor will figure out what s going on This book did have a bit of an information dump in some beginning chapters, which I don t particularly like in books Written from the perspective of the mother, you can t help but feel for both mother and daughter as they struggle to get the answers they need Not knowing the medical diagnosis when someone is clearly suffering is heartbreaking, especially when a child is involved Even though she has difficulties in other aspe
